The Bank came into being with the name Canara Banking Corporation (Udipi) Limited, on 12th March, 1906, in the temple town of Udupi, by the pioneering efforts of a group of visionaries. In 1939, the Bank's name changed from Canara Banking Corporation (Udipi) Ltd. to Canara Banking Corporation Ltd. The second change in the name of the Bank occurred in 1972, from Canara Banking Corporation Ltd. to Corporation Bank Limited. And finally Corporation Bank following its nationalization on 15th April, 1980. The bank is among prominent public sector bank with its headquarter in Mangalore, India.
